Challenge
With the rollout of its social intranet platform “Smart Connect”, DHL Express wanted to lift employee engagement across its news channels — and especially reach non-desk workers who are hard to draw onto the platform. Plain news articles alone were not enough to keep colleagues coming back and to make key business topics stick.
Approach
In April 2022 DHL Express integrated the Quiz plugin directly into Smart Connect. Editors can now embed interactive quizzes right inside news articles and pages — for compliance and data-protection training, learning and development, and prize competitions. Examples include a human-rights quiz in 10 languages, a sustainability quiz and a diversity & inclusion quiz. Since launch, around 1,500 editors use the plugin to enrich their channels.
Result
Interactive content is very well received and translates into noticeably higher motivation — employees engage far more deeply with the material. The Quiz plugin has been used more than 500 times worldwide and has proven especially effective at drawing non-desk workers onto the platform. The takeaway: quizzes and competitions entertain colleagues in a light-hearted way while reinforcing knowledge at the same time.
